Herbal Medicine

This is most probably ‘The’ oldest system of Medicine in the world. The knowledge and wisdom of Herbal tradition has been passed down from the oldest cultures and still today, it remains an important system of healing. It facilitates a rebalancing of the body and assists with our health management. Modern scientific research now supports how our plants relate to human physiological processes. A Herbalist will use this current Evidence Based Clinical Research and possibly Western Herbal Tradition, Ayurvedic Teachings and Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat specific health issues with Tinctures, Teas, Powders, Capsules, Creams, Salves, Poultices, Syrups and Infused oils.

Herbal medicine embraces a holistic approach to healing by examining the symptoms and including diet, lifestyle and general day to day routines to treat each person individually.


Some of the problems (not an extensive list) commonly seen by herbalists are:

  • Tension Headaches, Migraine
  • Stress, Anxiety, Panic attacks,
  • Sleep problems,
  • Poor memory or concentration
  • Low Energy, Fatigue
  • Digestive Problems, reflux, IBS, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea
  • Muscular aches and pains
  • Cardiovascular problems, high blood pressure, palpitations
  • Low immune system, recurring illness
  • Respiratory issues, Cough, Colds, Flu
  • Urinary system problems, cystitis
  • Reproductive imbalances : Fertility support, Heavy, painful or lack of menstruation, PMT
  • Endocrine – Thyroid imbalance, Adrenal fatigue, Insulin resistance

Initial Consultation will take 90 minutes and the Herbalist will complete a detailed intake form. Current health concerns are discussed as well as a full medical history. If needed, your blood pressure will be taken and possibly some other gentle non invasive diagnostic tools will be used. A treatment plan will be agreed upon and Herbal remedy will be prepared. Treatment plan will also include some Lifestyle and Nutrition advice to enhance the healing.

The Herbal Remedy will be formulated by the Herbalist and you will take your remedy as prescribed for an agreed period, normally 3-4 weeks.

Your formula will work on reducing your symptoms while treating the underlying cause of your presenting issues. Your Herbal formula, just like you, is a unique creation and will support you on many levels.

The Follow up Consultation will take place 3 – 4 weeks after your first visit. This visit will last between 45 minutes and one hour. You will discuss any improvements in symptoms and further develop the treatment plan. The time needed to continue taking the remedy will differ depending on the client. The Herbalist will discuss the timeframe with you and will guide and support you throughout the process.
